Rehab Walker

The Rehab Walker is an electro-mechanical rehabilitation device which assists with Locomotor Training therapy for people with paralysis and other neurological disorders that limit the mobility of person (brain and spinal cord injury), stroke, TBI (Trauma Brain Injury), or even weight loss patients. The advantage of this technology is that it reduces labor cost from 4 persons to 1-2 people on medical staff per session.

It serves quadriplegic and hemiplegic and paraplegic patients. Current technologies on the market serve only paraplegics. Additionally, Rehab Walker reduces session time per patient because all 4 extremities are engaged simultaneously during the session.

Rehab Walker provides safety, reliability and repetitiveness on each session to benefit the patient.

It is not relying on physical strength of medical staff (thus alleviating work fatigue from each session). Device also prevents from developing "secondary" health conditions while patient is immobilized in bed (Blood clots, Pneumonia, Skin care and pressure sores, Bladder and Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs), Improves GI and Bowel management.

Additionally, when the Rehab Walker is combined with a FES (Functional Electrical Stimulation) System, this has the potential to benefit the patient with potentially quicker recovery times. We welcome additional studies to demonstrate Rehab Walker's current benefits and to assist in developing improvements in the future.

One in fifty Americans, that is 2 %, need the product depending of course on her or his extent of paralysis. This is from Christopher Reve Foundation research. (For 300,000,000 population 2% is 6 million).
About 273,000 people in the United States were living with spinal cord injuries in 2013, according to the most recent data from the National Spinal Cord Injury Statistical Center at the University of Alabama.
Over 80 percent of people with spinal cord injuries are men, with nearly half of the injuries occurring between the ages of 16 and 30.
There is about 5 million people with Parkinson’s disease in America and 26 million worldwide.

The main advantage of this device is that it serves patients with quadriplegia or hemiplegia. The existing technology on the market only assists patients with paraplegia. This medical product helps not only patients but also the workers and rehabilitation caregivers dedicated to the patients health and well-being. The presented device has great potential as a force multiplier. It can be used by patients with conditions where mobility of the patient’s body is limited. Not only does it work to reduce contractures, sores, edema, and pain from immobility. It cuts the manpower required to perform these rehabilitation activities. Reduced labor cost on medical staff 1-2 persons here to 3-4 persons in the current traditional way.
